I want this to happen without all the posturing and killing that seem so necessary. And frankly I have to admit I have no control over the situation and neither is my life at risk.

But I do worry that Antisemitism is on the rise around the world. And I am very concerned when Americans express the opinion that what happened in Germany can't happen here. America is, for the most part, a good place to live but humans will be humans.Pastor Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10510081361292855641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113520706057661449.post-81749879533003367922010-06-23T14:12:49.073-04:002010-06-23T14:12:49.073-04:00Dear Pastor Bob, as an American Israeli who is dee...Dear Pastor Bob, as an American Israeli who is deeply concerned about the attitude of the PC(USA) toward Jews and Israel, I find your objectivity refreshing. We may not agree on many of your position, but the moment that I see someone like you who is willing to understand all sides of the issues rather than reflexively side with the "weak" side (ie. the Palestinians,) I feel that we can be firends.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113520706057661449.post-47096687699595061052010-06-17T23:03:48.893-04:002010-06-17T23:03:48.893-04:00An addition: in the IDF video I did clearly see a ...An addition: in the IDF video I did clearly see a white flag on the Mavi Marmara.Pastor Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10510081361292855641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113520706057661449.post-62406723105961874662010-06-05T11:08:21.857-04:002010-06-05T11:08:21.857-04:00"Finally the proclamations sound like one han..."Finally the proclamations sound like one hand clapping to everyone else besides the PCUSA and the Jewish community."

Yeah. And I will add that the GA office still thinks in a top down way and doesn't get it that we want them to help local churches and stop thinking local churches are supposed to support the mission projects the GA sponsors. So when staff gets cut a GA there is a lot of hand wringing but the structure doesn't change.

Finally the proclamations sound like one hand clapping to everyone else besides the PCUSA and the Jewish community.Pastor Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10510081361292855641noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2113520706057661449.post-25569687191614602202010-06-04T10:52:54.579-04:002010-06-04T10:52:54.579-04:00It's that last point that's the most painf...It's that last point that's the most painful. Our leftists will get in a tizzy about fighting systemic injustice. Our right wingers will pitch a fit about not standing with a democracy struggling against terrorism. There will be much Standing On Principle.

The reality, though, is that the voice of the PC(USA) isn't heard at all in any of this. There's plenty of churning, but that tempest is only in our little teapot. Why are we so oblivious to this?Beloved Spearhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14568697883886058321noreply@blogger.com
